BBC3 set to go online as trust backs plan to scrap TV channel

Due to the significant drop in audience numbers for BBC3, Rona Fairhead, who was recently appointed as chair of the trust, came to a major decision of scrapping the channel in order to save £30m a year. This money will be used to increase the budget for BBC's most popular channel, BBC1. Fairhead believes that an effective long term solution would be to change BBC3 into an online only channel as the audience is moving to an online future. A similar proposal has been made for BBC+1.


BBC aims to be 'leaner and simpler' with new round of job cuts

As there has been a decrease in the number of people paying their TV license fee, BBC is facing a £150m deficit. To lower this number, the director general, Tony Hall decides to make a significant cut in the BBC's 18,000 work force.
